Synergy to Synastry: You Can't Blame Astrology for Your Bad Behavior (S1E3) Podcast Transcript

Welcome

Christine: Welcome back to Synergy to Synastry, the podcast.

Christine: Thank you for joining Renee and I again for episode three.

Christine: Renee, how are you feeling today?

Christine: Pretty good.

Renee: I will say though, that right before we started recording, I definitely had, I don't know, I was feeling some kind of way.

Renee: I started feeling pretty anxious, and it felt like it was coming out of nowhere, honestly.

Christine: It's so funny you say that, because I felt the exact same way.

Christine: I was doing fine, and then an hour before you and I were set to meet, I just started to get so anxious and overwhelmed out of nowhere.

Christine: I do remember the astrology for the day is supposed to be a little chaotic.

Renee: A perfect segue, because the astrology is trying to teach us something on a day that we're going to be teaching our listeners about astrology.

Renee: We're going to be going over astrology from a relatively high level.

Renee: There's a lot of content in the world, but there's a lot of podcasts, books, YouTube channels, Instagram accounts that you can follow, obviously people that you can get readings from.

Renee: There's even TV shows.

Renee: There's an astrology dating show.

Christine: On Amazon?

Renee: Have you heard of this?

Renee: Well, actually, I think there might be two, but there's one that I know that's on MAX because it was a Discovery Plus show, so it's on my list.

Renee: And it's these astrologers look at people's charts and they do matchmaking based on the astrology.

Christine: Oh, I didn't see that one.

Christine: I saw on Amazon there was one and I watched it and I loved it.

Renee: It's interesting.

Renee: And again, for listeners, part of the reason that we're talking about it is because astrology is absolutely having a moment.

Renee: If you've been anywhere on the internet, even in articles about excelling in your career, some of those journals and resources don't have mentions of astrology.

Renee: It's worked its way into conversations on TV.

Renee: Like I don't know if you've heard this as well or if you watch Love is Blind, but Love is Blind on Netflix.

Renee: I heard multiple people say, oh, well, what time are you?

Renee: Oh, you're Capricorn, blah, blah, blah.

Renee: So it's popping up all over the place.

Renee: And even if you're not somebody who's particularly interested or versed in it, you have been exposed to it at some point, most likely.

Renee: So we're going to be talking about what is astrology, what's the history, and then a little background on our charts, and then just broader discussions on astrology and culture.

Astrology 101 & History

Christine: What is astrology?

Christine: If you had to define what astrology is, how would you describe it?

Renee: Astrology is the ancient study of planetary activity, how it reflects and forecasts both collective and personal events.

Christine: Very succinct.

Christine: I like it.

Christine: I like it a lot.

Christine: With that, I know there's a lot of history involved.

Christine: I mean, it's an ancient science.

Christine: Is there anything that you can share or that the listeners should know about the history of astrology?

Renee: Yeah, absolutely.

Renee: Astrological techniques can be traced back to ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, India, China, and lots of cultures spread all across the globe.

Renee: Thousands of years ago, people who had no way of contacting each other in different countries, different continents, all were formulating their own versions of astrology.

Renee: And then with time and communication, there's an evolution of the practices.

Renee: But the fact that that even happened in the first place is pretty interesting.

Renee: There's something to that, the people that were notating it, that were teaching it.

Renee: What if they were getting psychic downloads, and coming from the divine coming from the universe, that it was getting passed on to all of these different seers or psychics?

Renee: One term that y'all may have heard of floating around in the ether is Mercury is in retrograde.

Renee: Oh no, Mercury is in retrograde.

Renee: Nothing's working.

Renee: Everything's horrible.

Renee: People are scared of it.

Renee: But the symbol for a retrograde is actually the same symbol as what we use for modern medicine.

Renee: That being it's a capital R, lowercase x right next to each other.

Renee: So that is a pretty fun fact, I think, with astrology.

Renee: Retrogrades regardless of which planet they were, Mercury retrogrades just happen most often, that they were viewed by these ancient health practitioners, because that's what astrology was.

Renee: It was a science, it was a system of health and wellness and understanding you, your body, connection to nature, the universe, that they viewed these retrogrades as a time for healing.

Renee: So something to consider, that they're actually a great opportunity for healing.

Renee: Healing isn't always a smooth process, which is why there may be some bumps along the way.

Christine: I think my favorite fact about all the research that's been done for today's episode is that the prescription symbol has lasted the test of time from ancient Mesopotamia to now via astrology.

Christine: Going back to the history of astrology, you mentioned that different cultures all over the world developed their own way of interpreting what they saw in the sky.

Christine: Is that what leads into different branches or different ways to view astrology?

Christine: Absolutely.

Renee: Some of the most common ones that you may encounter are Vedic astrology that has origins in India, Western astrology that can be tied to Greece but honestly many other cultures, and then Chinese astrology.

Renee: So as an example, there was a lot of talk in the last month or so because it's the Chinese New Year.

Renee: So the Chinese New Year relates to their astrological season.

Renee: On top of the branches, astrology goes even deeper.

Renee: So there's the cultural foundation, and then from there it's the chart itself, how the chart is structured, and then how the chart is interpreted.

Renee: On most apps out there, because there's many astrology apps, the default is either the Placidus system or the whole sign system.

Renee: There are others, but those are definitely the most popular.

Renee: Just for a through line here, so if we're talking about Vedic astrology, so Indian origin, baked in is using the whole sign system.

Renee: If you have Western astrology, you could use Placidus or you could use whole sign depending upon which way you're viewing it.

Renee: There's variability for leveraging different techniques.

Christine: Any astrologer can interpret your chart using a different system, but at the end of the day, they somehow come up with their interpretation that is basically the user manual for you via astrology.

Christine: Very, very cool.

Renee: Yeah, so there are some cases where, and you'll hear this from different teachers, they're very gung-ho on just learning one system, stick to it.

Renee: There's others that tend to bounce in between.

Renee: It's not that Chinese astrology is better or worse than Vedic astrology.

Renee: They're different lenses.

Renee: They were taught for a reason.

Renee: They were created for a reason.

Renee: They've lasted for thousands of years for a reason.

Renee: And same applies to the house systems.

Christine: And what are methodologies in astrology?

Renee: Yeah, so there's all different ways that you can leverage astrology in your day-to-day.

Renee: One of them is mundane astrology.

Renee: So if you wanted to look at politics, government, certain events happening over time, there's a lot of talk this year in particular for the US having a Pluto return.

Renee: There's also electional astrology.

Renee: This has to do with selecting what are referred to as auspicious dates for an event.

Renee: If anybody's seen Indian Matchmaker, they have done this.

Renee: And this is common where you look at the charts of the two people getting married and you're saying, okay, based on the energies of the chart, based on the location that we would be for this wedding, or maybe using that to inform where you get married.

Renee: What's going to create a merged chart that will have elements and characteristics that we want to symbolize our marriage?

Renee: That's a very complicated way of using electional astrology.

Renee: You can also say, I want to start a new business.

Renee: What's a good day for me to start it based on my chart?

Renee: Medical astrology.

Renee: So you can look at planets, placements, aspects in your chart for indicators of potential health issues.

Renee: Also considering transits, how that might change over time.

Renee: Maybe they can tie to having a car accident, something like that.

Renee: And then last one that I'm going to be mentioning today, a newer methodology in astrology, which is astrocartography, also known as locational astrology.

Renee: And that's based on where you are in the world.

Renee: So you're going to leverage astrocartography if you're looking to relocate or go on a vacation.

Renee: When should you go?

Renee: Where should you go?

Renee: What energies is it going to pull on?

Renee: I think most people feel this.

Renee: Sometimes you travel somewhere and it's just the vibe's not right.

Renee: You're not feeling it.

Renee: You don't connect.

Renee: In other places you go and there's just something about it you can't explain.

Renee: And that's where astrocartography can come in.

Christine: I am dying to get a locational astrology reading for that reason.

Christine: I just want to know where in the world I feel, you know, the best.

Christine: I know you had one though.

Christine: Do you want to tell the listeners about it a little bit?

Renee: Yeah.

Renee: So I had one in February and it was very, very interesting.

Renee: I took a lot of notes on it and we talked about places I have traveled recently.

Renee: Like in  I lived abroad for a couple months.

Renee: So we looked at those places I visited.

Renee: And, as an example, what was really fascinating about the energies there and what it does to reorient my chart being in London and Paris, which is where I was spending most of my time.

Renee: There's an emphasis on Seventh House Energy, which is committed relationships.

Renee: And during that entire time, I was living with my partner at that point.

Renee: And by the end of that trip, I had done a lot of soul searching about what was working, what wasn't working, and ended the relationship.

Renee: She was saying that anytime I go to places in that general area in Europe, that I can have a feeling of home.

Renee: So it was very interesting that of all the places that I went for my first time ever visiting Europe, we're in that zone of places for home, that I was living there in a more permanent situation for a month or two weeks.

Christine: That's amazing.

Christine: And I also feel like that that points to like, we know when something is meant for us, whether we get a reading about it or not, whether you looked at like you didn't look at your locational astrology before you went to those places, but something in you knew you had to go there.

Christine: And I just like when, you know, the decisions we make for ourselves line up with what someone else sees in a reading somewhere down the line.

Christine: It kind of just confirms that you can trust yourself in your own intuition.

Christine: So I'll get off my soapbox there and we can move on.

Natal Charts, Big Three, & Big Six

Christine: We've discussed what astrology is.

Christine: We've discussed how it came to be, the history, how it relates to us now.

Christine: The next thing I think we should talk about is our natal charts.

Christine: I know we've referenced charts, but can you give us another really great definition about what a natal chart is?

Renee: Chani Nicholas, who is a great astrologer, she defines a natal chart as, whatever patterns constellated in the heavens at the moment you took your first breath is the cosmic imprint of your soul, the map of the journey you will take in this lifetime, and the ways in which you will go about it.

Renee: I thought that was very poetic.

Christine: That's so poetic.

Christine: It's almost like it's a blueprint or a user manual.

Christine: I know I say user manual over and over, but it is a blueprint for your life, which is exciting.

Christine: I know next episode, we're going to be talking about human design, which I also refer to as a user manual.

Christine: It's different ways of going about the same thing.

Christine: Very, very cool.

Christine: We discussed readings, but I highly recommend getting a reading done of your natal chart.

Christine: If anything, just to feel reassured about who you are, especially if you're feeling a little bit different.

Christine: We hear a lot of people say like, oh, what's your sign or what's your big three?

Christine: I know there's a lot of trends going on.

Christine: What is your take on that?

Renee: Your basic horoscope, which is just your sun sign.

Renee: I felt it at many points and I would hear from other people, oh, well, this is so generic.

Renee: This doesn't relate to me at all.

Renee: This could be about anyone.

Renee: That's what I think is so great about the conversation shifting.

Renee: Because in the last several years, as astrology has had its time in the sun pun intended, there's more chat about the big three.

Renee: The big three is your sun, moon, and your rising or ascendant.

Renee: For those, very high level background, those do tie to not just the day that you were born.

Renee: That's what I think is important when you're thinking about a chart on a high level.

Renee: If you're just talking about your sun sign, it's, well, I was born on this date.

Renee: Great.

Renee: That automatically means I'm in Aries.

Renee: But if you know your birth location and your exact birth time, which not everybody does, but if you do, you're able to accurately understand those other elements in your big three.

Renee: So your moon is going to be a factor.

Renee: Depending on the day, the moon could be changing signs in the middle of the day, so it actually does matter what time you were born at.

Renee: If you're born in the morning or at night or  versus , that maybe makes a difference because that's when it changes signs.

Renee: And for the ascendant, that's based on where you were born.

Renee: So what was on the horizon in the sky, in the constellations?

Renee: How were the planets, how were the stars oriented on the horizon line, based on where you were born on the planet?

Renee: So it's a lot more involved.

Renee: And I think pretty interesting because that's just the beginning.

Christine: Very, very cool.

Christine: I know that when I'm feeling like a glass case of emotion, I tend to look at where the moon is.

Christine: Am I having a lunar return?

Christine: Is it the same moon that occurred when I was born?

Christine: Or is it a moon opposite that?

Christine: Is that why I'm feeling so emotional?

Christine: I don't want to say it's always, but it's really nice to know your natal chart, your sun, moon, you're rising, just for when things are going wonky and you want to blame a planet.

Christine: And fun fact, you can actually go to astrologers if you don't know your birth time and you can't get it, meaning you don't have your birth certificate or whatever the case may be.

Christine: There are astrologers out there who do, I think they're called rectified charts.

Christine: Yeah, but they basically work with you to figure out when you're born.

Christine: So they'll, I think, run different charts, figure out what fits you best.

Christine: You know, maybe one of your parents remembers it was lunchtime, so you can start with those hours so you can figure out your sun, moon, rising and Venus, Mars and Mercury if you're into it.

Renee: So that's the segue into the Big Six.

Renee: Something I've been noticing, I don't know if you've seen the same, Christine, but over the last probably only handful of months, not really very long, on social media, it's post your Big Six or Taylor Swift songs as your Big Six, things like that.

Renee: And what that means is it's building on that Big Three, which is your sun, moon, rising.

Renee: And it's including what are called personal planets.

Renee: Those are the innermost planets that are closest to the sun and closest to Earth.

Renee: Those include Mercury, Venus and Mars.

Renee: Just to reiterate, this is not a complete picture, but you're at least pulling at other planets.

Renee: I think what's slowly happening here is it's getting more and more people to actually pay attention to what else is happening in their chart.

Renee: And eventually the Big Six is going to be Big Nine, Big Ten, Big Twelve.

Renee: It's just going to be the entire chart.

Renee: None of these planets or points, in the case of an Ascendant, exist in isolation.

Renee: If you're just saying, I have a Capricorn moon, okay, great.

Renee: Where's the Capricorn moon in relation to Mars, Mercury, Saturn?

Renee: Where it lives in the house system that you chose, in the methodology that you're using?

Renee: So there's a lot of layers that you can apply to actually gather more information.

Christine: One of the pet peeves I have with this big six trend is that it's not as fun.

Christine: I'm like, oh, I'm all Virgo and Capricorn.

Christine: And most people would be like, I could have told you that without even looking at your chart.

Christine: You're welcome.

Renee: Yeah, so I have a bit of a mix.

Renee: So I have Aries, Sun and Venus, Virgo moon, Cancer rising.

Renee: And then I have Pisces, Mars and Mercury.

Renee: So I've got four different areas of the chart for my big six.

Christine: So all of my inner planets, Sun, Venus, Mars, Mercury are Virgo.

Christine: And then my moon and my Ascendant are Capricorn.

Christine: I would like a little variety.

Christine: I'm a little jealous.

Christine: I have Nadel, Trident, Envy.

Renee: We've alluded to it in previous episodes where we were talking about our charts mirroring each other.

Renee: So when we're talking about a chart, typically it exists as a wheel.

Renee: So it's a circle.

Renee: There's different slices in it.

Renee: It's like a giant pizza, but there's  slices.

Renee: Depending on the house system that you use, the slices will all be the same size or they'll be different sizes.

Renee: And it just so happens that for Christine and I, our charts are oriented in such a way, and that orientation is based on the Ascendant that we were talking about.

Renee: So what was on the horizon?

Renee: And for me, it was the Cancer Constellation, and for Christine, it was Capricorn.

Renee: And ultimately, that's an inverted chart.

Renee: That is what is interesting about the two of us coming together for this podcast.

Renee: There's a sense of it being very complimentary.

Renee: Your Sun is the car that you're in, and the Moon is how you're operating the car, and the Ascendant is where you're going.

Renee: You're growing towards your Ascendant.

Renee: Think about the root of the word, you're ascending.

Renee: There's an upward motion to it.

Renee: So for me, if I'm growing towards, if I'm embracing the Cancer characteristics, based on innately being Aries, that comes easily to me.

Renee: My inner world, my emotions, my processing, being my Virgo Moon, I use those tools in addition to how I came into this world to then take my car to the Ascendant.

Renee: And one way that you're advised to do that is by leveraging the opposite sign.

Renee: So for me, that would mean pulling in some aspects, some of the strengths of Capricorn, and also realizing when I'm using Capricorn characteristics as a crutch.

Renee: And I've actually gone the other way.

Renee: I'm driving to the other horizon, if you will.

Renee: I'm driving at the sunset, instead of the sunrise.

Renee: And the same thing would be true for Christine, where it's important for her to consider what are the lessons of cancer, and how can I integrate that, but how can I make sure I'm not relying on it in driving to the wrong horizon line?

Christine: It's so interesting because as you're talking, I'm imagining the wheel of our chart.

Christine: So if the listeners can imagine that in the middle, there's a line that drives straight through.

Christine: And so at one end on the left is either cancer or capricorn, and on the right is either cancer or capricorn.

Christine: And I imagine Renee and I in our little car is driving to the midpoint to like, high five each other on our way to growth.

Renee: That is adorable.

Christine: But very cool.

Christine: I feel like the more that you and I do research and work on this podcast, the more we're finding how our backgrounds and I say backgrounds, like our birth charts, complement each other and just explain more of, again, the energy that we're feeling that we have been going off of.

Christine: We now have concrete proof that it's legit.

First Exposure to Astrology

Christine: I know you touched before on your first exposure to astrology.

Christine: Do you want to go into that a little bit more?

Christine: We can both talk about that.

Renee: Yeah, sure.

Renee: I had to be by high school, but sometime in and around there, I started reading the astrology and sometimes, of course, it resonated.

Renee: Other times it wouldn't.

Renee: But there was this sense of shame around it, of it was so dismissed.

Renee: And of course, it still is by some people, but I've always been very science logic oriented.

Renee: So I had a little bit of conflict around that, if you will.

Renee: Well, this is interesting and I'm drawn to this, but I'm also rejecting it.

Renee: It started up again where I got interested in it early when I was in the workforce, because I don't have it here with me, but one of my co-workers, she had bought me for my birthday an Aries mug.

Renee: We would actually talk about astrology because she's Pisces, actually the day that we're recording this, it's her birthday.

Renee: And we just we chatted about it.

Renee: And it felt like over the last, that was probably five or six years ago.

Renee: There's many years between then and now, but that's when I've been observing that astrology is becoming more and more present because I don't even know why we were talking about it, but somehow it came up and it almost became acceptable to be discussing because I'm chatting about it with one of my friends.

Renee: And then fast forward around 2020, I remember I was at one of my other friends for Bachelorette Party and everyone was pulling out their phones, oh do you have CoStar?

Renee: And we were all downloading it because I didn't have it and that's an astrology app for those of you who don't have it.

Renee: And we were all comparing what was coming up in our analyses and so suddenly it just felt like it was coming out of nowhere but it was getting embraced more and more.

Renee: And in and around the same time that I started my psychic journey, my eyes were opened very, very quickly to how complex and ancient, as I said at the top, astrology is.

Renee: From that standpoint, it just became fascinating to me of, oh, this is so much more than just the sun sign and what everyone's been walking around thinking for, you know, decades.

Renee: This is something that can take a lifetime of study.

Renee: What about your first exposure to astrology?

Christine: I think we have always been talking about astrology in my house.

Christine: My dad and I are very similar in that we like to deep dive into topics, go down a rabbit hole, if you will.

Christine: So we would always look up our horoscopes in the newspaper and the hard copy of the newspaper.

Christine: And if you're in the Tri-State area, I don't even know if they still do this because I'm not up that early, nor do I drive anymore, but we would listen to Elvis Ren and The Morning Show on Z and they would give your daily horoscope.

Christine: And I remember, even when I drove into work as an adult, I would try to be in the car at the time of my daily horoscope from Elvis Duran, which who knows how accurate they were, but I loved them.

Christine: Funny story, I caused an uproar in one of my offices.

Christine: It was a privately owned firm.

Christine: So what that means is we don't have shareholders, so we can sort of do things on our own timetable and as we wish.

Christine: So they put a new security system for the internet in for the office.

Christine: And somehow the website that I would go to every morning to check my horoscopes got blocked.

Christine: And so I went on our like company page.

Christine: And it's like, if you have an issue with a website being blocked, this is who you email.

Christine: So I had to email the CFO and explain to him that my horoscope website was blocked and it's imperative that I get it for daily use.

Christine: And the entire office thought it was hysterical.

Christine: This is why you should speak up because it got unblocked.

Christine: I made my petition and...

Renee: For listeners, my jaw is on the floor.

Christine: So yeah, so I guess I've always been a little weird.

Christine: I just didn't realize it until you and I started doing this.

Using Astrology

Christine: So today, after all that history about our first exposure to astrology, Renee, how are you currently using it?

Renee: So I have an Astro Planner.

Renee: I got from Chani.

Renee: It's my second year using it, but I've gone way more in depth this year.

Renee: I've done more research on transits that are happening specifically in my chart.

Renee: And then I'll write them down.

Renee: Anyhow, I'm listening to a podcast.

Renee: That's another main method of engaging with astrology.

Renee: I listen to a lot of podcasts on it.

Renee: And if they do any sort of a forecast or talk about specific transits, I'll go in there and I'll make a note.

Renee: So that way I have all of it in one spot.

Renee: It's also the same place where I will jot down card polls that I do, angel numbers I see.

Renee: These are other forms of divination we'll talk about later.

Renee: As an example for dreams, if I want to see when X, Y or Z thing was happening, I have a quick way of scanning and it's merging all of those together.

Renee: So all this to say I don't use astrology in a vacuum.

Renee: I tie it with these other forms of divination and intuition because I have found that, and I know other psychics report this as well, that we can tap into the energy of the collective, which often aligns with astrology.

Renee: Another key component here is just because Capricorn is supposed to relate to your spine, it doesn't mean, oh well, you could have a spine injury when this planet happens to be in Capricorn.

Renee: It doesn't mean that that is going to happen to you.

Renee: It's not causal.

Renee: But I can have my own patterns as an individual of what I'm seeing happens when I am in and out of different energies and different transits.

Renee: So I'm going to have a lot of data before this year is out.

Christine: I love it.

Christine: I love it.

Christine: Well, that Virgo Energy data collection.

Christine: So I'm a little similar to you, but I'm also kind of fast and loose with it.

Christine: So I have a podcast that I listen to that gives the astrology forecast every week.

Christine: So I get that.

Christine: I have an astrology planner so I could look ahead at transits.

Christine: And I also have like a link into my calendar on my iPhone that just has the transits of the day.

Christine: The purpose of that and all that being is I kind of feel into the energy of what's going on first.

Christine: And then I check what transits are happening.

Christine: You know, why is X happening?

Christine: And then it's, oh, you're going through this transit.

Christine: It's going to last this long.

Christine: The things that I really do track throughout the year are the moon as a Capricorn moon.

Christine: Whenever the moon's in Capricorn, that's when I am my most productive.

Christine: So I like to schedule very tedious things during that time and Mercury retrograde.

Christine: So retrogrades tend to hit me really hard.

Christine: I could usually feel them coming on even if I forget.

Christine: And it's more so to like manage expectations for other people, which we don't have to do.

Christine: But I'm typically very productive and on top of things.

Christine: So when all of a sudden I'm not, I like to move my schedule around that.

Christine: So I don't have to explain to someone that, you know, Mercury is retrograde.

Christine: I just I suck right now and can't figure it out.

Christine: Because it does that doesn't translate for most people.

Christine: I think this is a great segue into our final disclaimer.

Christine: Just because an energy is supposedly put out into the world doesn't mean you get to be mean to someone or speak to them a certain way because you're feeling agitated.

Christine: We're still responsible for our own actions.

Christine: And I know Renee did a lot of research on this as well and has some really key points that she wants to relate.

Free Will

Renee: The big takeaway here, you have free will.

Renee: There is a misconception about astrology as it's written in the stars.

Renee: Well, I don't have any control over any of it.

Renee: And most astrologers will say that they believe that there can be some sense of destiny or direction that may be infused in the chart.

Renee: But you always have free will.

Renee: Part of the reason why we choose to leverage astrology is because you can get a forecast and you could make a different decision.

Renee: All right, if this is happening and the energy is in the air based on my chart, that I'm more likely to get in an accident, guess what I'm going to do that day?

Renee: I'm going to lay low.

Renee: I can choose to follow that or completely ignore it and say whatever I have plans, I'm going to go out.

Christine: I don't care.

Renee: And you have every right to do that.

Renee: You can actually use it to help you take responsibility, take control, be more present.

Renee: But sometimes if you're really sitting there and you're taking it in, well, what does that mean?

Renee: And how many other people are also looking at an alert on their phone right now, thinking the same thing and recalibrating?

Renee: And that's pretty special, too.

Renee: Final thought on this, just to wrap it up, I have a quote, which is from a book by Robert Hand, and it reads, The transits in themselves do not cause either good or bad happenings.

Renee: In fact, they do not cause anything.

Renee: They are just signs that you will have to confront certain issues in your life at a particular time.

Lessons

Christine: Okay, it's time for our second to last section of our episode, which is, what have we learned this week?

Christine: And what I have learned this week is very basic, and some of you may already know this, but it was a game changer for me.

Christine: I was meal prepping overnight oats this week, and I had an empty, an almost empty container of sun nut butter, which is similar to peanut butter, but I'm allergic to peanuts, so it comes from sunflower seeds, TLDR, empty jar of nut butter.

Christine: And I was like, you know, there's enough left that I could make another overnight oats, but like, I don't feel like scraping the thing.

Christine: So you can just put all the ingredients into the container, and that's your overnight oats.

Christine: Wait, and then you don't have a dish to wash the next day, because it's garbage.

Christine: So you're reusing, you're recycling, and you're saving time.

Christine: Renee, I don't know if you could top that, but go for it.

Renee: I can't.

Renee: It's a good life hack.

Renee: I've had this one card.

Renee: It is kind of over and over and over and over and over again.

Renee: And it's the Clarity card, which is about inspired action.

Renee: It's about finding your sense of direction.

Renee: Because I keep seeing it over and over again, it's just a reminder for me, even for this podcast, because as we're recording this right now as a note, none of our episodes have actually dropped yet.

Renee: We're recording this in a vacuum, but we are about to be going live.

Renee: And for me, this card is acting as a reminder of this is what we're supposed to be doing, that this is aligned.

Renee: This is an action, us getting together, having these interesting conversations, even the research for it, the prep that we're doing, you know, social media graphics we're making, whatever it is, that the action of it all makes me feel inspired.

Renee: And that's something that's important to me moving towards.

Christine: I think it's beautiful.

Christine: And I think there's someone out there who needs like that same message and that sign to do the same.

Christine: So I love it.

Readings

Renee: All right, so we're gonna be doing our channeled reading for our listeners.

Renee: I'm gonna go first.

Renee: What I was seeing was an image of a boat, and paired with it, I got buttercup, the term buttercup.

Renee: And I looked a little bit further, and I started seeing that the boat was actually starting to fill with water.

Renee: Not that it was being overtaken, it was gonna sink, but there was water coming into the boat.

Renee: Not apparent that it was because of holes, just water was coming in.

Renee: That's the most simple way to say it.

Renee: And there was a girl in the boat, so it was a young girl with pigtails.

Renee: And it felt to me like, okay, she's buttercup, like she's, like that's the affectionate name for it, like she's on the boat.

Renee: And so what she was doing was she was using a pail and shovel, like plastic, like what you would take with you to the beach or something.

Renee: And she was using those tools that she had to try to scoop the water out of the boat and dump it.

Renee: And I don't expect any listeners to be named a buttercup and have this firsthand experience.

Renee: So when I looked into the significance, immediately what came in was no small things.

Renee: And in tapping in deeper, the message that I got was you have to utilize the appropriate tools to get the job done.

Renee: She's using children's tools, yes, she's a child, but that wasn't going to work to solve the problem.

Renee: And what that might mean for you is you might have to actually go learn something new because that will actually get you to where you need to go.

Christine: All right, listeners.

Christine: So for my reading, I kind of have to talk this one out.

Christine: The first image I was seeing was the labyrinth from the movie with David Bowie, The Labyrinth.

Christine: And the main character, I see her walking through the hedges, talking to all the strange little characters in the movie.

Christine: The Labyrinth is life, and she is in charge of her decisions, whichever way she goes.

Christine: While she's going through this maze, her entire goal is to get there and save her baby brother.

Christine: And I think what's most important and what I'm getting from my image is what she learns along the way because at the end, she realizes she had the power the entire time.

Christine: We are presented with life.

Christine: If we are presented with choices, life is not guaranteed to be fair, but we are in charge of which way we go.

Christine: And we may make the wrong turn several times.

Christine: But on that th time we make the wrong turn, we're finally going to learn and redirect ourselves.

Renee: It's so interesting that we both had imagery of a young girl trying to accomplish something.

Christine: Yeah.

Christine: On International Women's Day, no less, we're recording this.

Renee: Let's go.

Christine: I'm going to try to think of a mantra right now, Renee, I don't know if you have one already.

Renee: For me, I just was circling back to No Small Things.

Renee: You have to be equipped for the situation appropriately.

Renee: It's a reevaluation of your tools, of your resources in the context of that big picture.

Renee: And you have to make sure you're not using anything too small to of your childhood.

Renee: If you're an adult listening to this, don't translate and transfer tactics, tools, language, behaviors that you applied when you were a kid and expect them to do the job now.

Christine: It's so important.

Christine: The mantra that I'm getting is that there are no coincidences.

Christine: Things happen and even things that happen that feel terrible like heartbreak or grief or things that are just like really hard to get through, even those things, they're happening for you.

Christine: They're not happening to you.

Christine: They're happening so that you can grow.

Christine: Sometimes life is going to be amazing and sometimes it's really going to suck.

Christine: But going back to last episode, nothing is permanent.

Christine: You're going to get through all of it and you're going to get through it because you're strong enough to.

Christine: Thanks for listening!

Renee: If you'd like to learn more, the resources we used to prepare for this episode are listed in the show notes.

Outro

Renee: I am looking forward to, not for the sake of my sleep schedule, but in general, for daylight savings because what that means is there's more sunshine.

Christine: I am so down for the sun.

Christine: I can't wait to see it.

Christine: I actually, aren't they supposed to do away with daylight savings at some point?

Christine: Hawaii and Arizona, with the exception of the Navajo Nation, do not observe daylight savings time.

Christine: Neither do the territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the US.

Christine: Virgin Islands.

Christine: I will move anywhere except Arizona.

Renee: Aren't people from Arizona supposed to be really tan?

Christine: Yeah, but they have the desert thing.

Christine: I don't do desert.

Renee: I took my sip of water.

Christine: Everybody drink.

Christine: Pick us up.

Renee: We're parched.
